Privacy Policy
Last updated: July 30, 2026
Your privacy is important to us. This Privacy Policy explains how Leap handles data when you use our desktop application and website.
1. Local Processing & Zero Cloud Storage
Leap is designed as a fully local-first utility. All screen recordings, audio captures, and processing workflows are executed entirely on your local machine. We do not operate cloud servers for processing, and none of your captured media is ever transmitted, uploaded, or shared with us or any third party.
2. Licensing & Key Validation
To validate your lifetime license key, the Leap application securely connects to Polar.sh to check the license status. This check transmits only:
- Your license key
- A secure hash of your machine identifier (to prevent key abuse)
No recording metadata, personal information, or user files are ever attached to this check.
3. Data Security
Since your files never leave your computer, the security of your recorded media relies on your local filesystem security permissions. We recommend ensuring your system is password-protected and encrypted.
4. Changes to This Policy
We may update our Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of any changes by posting the new Privacy Policy on this page.
5. Contact Us
If you have any questions or suggestions about our Privacy Policy, do not hesitate to contact us via GitHub issues.
